[Shirakawa-go] 2 Days Trip from Tokyo to Kanazawa – Shirakawago – Takayama (Part 2/3)
Shirakawa-go –
Gifu Prefecture
This post is continuation from my previous blog at Kanazawa.

Getting to
Shirakawa-go from Kanazawa:
Travel to Shirakawa-go can be accessed with Nohi bus. Online
reservation is required for most of the nohi routes.
Nohi bus station in Kanazawa is located at Kanazawa Station
bus stop #2 in the east gate. It took around 1 and half hour to arrived at
Shirakawa Ogimachi village.
Time Spent at Shirakawa-go
I reserved the 8.10 am bus and arrived Shirakawa-go Ogimachi
Village at around 9.30 pm. I spent approximately 3 hours in this village, and then
heading to Takayama by Nohi bus. I bought the bus ticket online at japanonlinebus
website before I arrived Japan.
Shirakawa-go Bus Terminal
There is a tourist information desk, toilet, coin locker in
the Shirakawago station. If you bring luggage, do not worry as you can put it
in the coin locker with around JPY 500. I didn’t bring luggage for this trip as
I planned to go Takayama after the Shirakawago, so I put my luggage in the
hotel in Tokyo.
Ogimachi Village
I expected to see the whole village covered in thick snow. It
was pretty sad that the weather did not turn out to what I expected. Without
snow, Shirakawa-go is just a normal village.
There are some souvenirs shop along the way. I love the Sarubobo doll <3
Also, some Japanese snacks
Observatory Point
There are 2 ways to go to the observatory point:
- Walking around 20 minutes from Ogimachi village, or
- Take shuttle bus for 5 minutes from Ogimachi village. The fee is JPY 200 for one way. There are 3 bus schedules in every 1 hour.
It is a beautiful village but I was not really impressive as
I expected to see something more beautiful with snow.
Thank you for reading.
Cheers,
Elisa
