Day Trip to Beautiful Udo – Jeju Island
‘Udo’ literally means ‘Cow Island’ in Chinese. Udo Island is exactly
what I expect Jeju would be. This island makes the best part of the whole
journey. It is also the highlight of the Jeju trip.
Getting to Udo:
1.
We took taxi from our hotel at Jeju-si area to Jeju
Intercity Bus Terminal. Then take Bus No 701 or 710 to Seongsan Port bus
station.
2.
Upon arrived Seongsan Harbour terminal, we are
required to fill in some personal details such as full name, age, and
nationality, and then proceed to the counter to make payment.
3.
Udo Island is 15 minutes ferry ride from the
Seongsan Harbour.
The round trip of ferry ticket cost KRW 5,500/ pax. The ferry is available in every 30 minutes. Please be reminded that the last ferry leaving Udo is at 5.30pm. If you are driving with car, you can park your car near the Seongsan harbor.
Getting around the island:
There are few alternatives to go around the island:
1. Car
You can drive
your own car at Udo. It cost around KRW 11,000 to carry your car over on the
ferry to Udo.
2. Rent a bicycle
Bicycle rental
is around KRW 2,000 per hour. This does
not require driving license.
3. Rent a scooter/ ATV ride
ATV ride is
probably the best alternative. The ATV ride is too cute and can ride up to 4
people. It cost around KRW 10,000 per hour. But it requires an international
driving license.
4.
Join a bus tour.
This tour will
alight along the tourist spot in Udo. The bus will come in every 30 minutes.
We need to hold the ticket as the driver will check our ticket when we board to the bus and the driver will collect our ticket at the last stop. It cost KRW 5,000 per person. We choose this option as none of us have the international driving license. The problem of this tour is there is no English speaking guide. So we didn’t find it useful as we do not understand what they say, and we just alight at some stations which we think the place is attractive.

The first stop is Udobong Peak.
Followed by some other attractive places that we passed by during the bus tour
After finished the tour, we realized that we missed a lot of places during
the tour due to language barrier T.T
So we decided to walk to Udo Lighthouse Park from the start point. It
took around 20minutes to arrive the peak.
Along the way, we passed by a place
full of Canola flower and walked through a beautiful view.
Okay arriving soon..
What’s on top?
Tada….
The beautiful coastline |
Please always be reminded that the last ferry leaving Udo is at 5.30 pm, so you won't missed the last ferry.
I would really recommend coming to Udo when you visit Jeju. It is really
beautiful. It would be best to spend the whole day in this place. Please
prepare to wear a comfy shoe as you may walk a lot, but it is definitely worth it.
